The Bengaluru Urban District Deputy Commissioner has cancelled early morning shows of the highly-anticipated movie, Pushpa 2: The Ruleinthe city. Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the film hits cinemas worldwide on Thursday.
Hours before its release day, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner issued a notice, instructing cinema owners to cancel the midnight and the early morning shows (3 a.m. and 4 a.m.) of the pan-Indian movie. Around 40 single screens in Bengaluru were asked to cancel their shows.
What rules say
According to the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1964, no cinema must exhibit their first show before 6.30 a.m. and the last show of a film must begin after 10.30 p.m. Pushpa 2 is not the first film to violate the rules as other big releases of 2024 across industries were screened early in the morning.
Pushpa 2 is a sequel to the hit movie Pushpa: The Rise. Breaking several box office records, the Sukumar-directorial emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2021.
The management of cinemas have said that they will refund the ticket price for those who have booked for the shows.
