Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) said it aims to set up about 600 public EV fast-charging stations across the country in the next seven years, of which 50 will come up by this month end.
The new public EV fast charging stations will come up on key highways, major cities and dealerships. These will be accessible to all 4W EVs manufactured in India at attractive tariffs. These stations are strategically located at prominent locations with several amenities, the South Korean carmaker said in a statement
For those owning Hyundai cars, myHyundai app, in collaboration with ChargeZone, Statiq, Shell India and others, is offering access to over 10,000 EV charging points across the country.
Till date, HMIL’s charging network has facilitated approximately 50,000 charging sessions, dispensing over 7.30 lakh units of energy to more than 10,000 Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV customers it said.
HMIL has also signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set up 100 EV charging stations across the State by 2027. Out of these, 10 stations will be operational within CY 2024. Currently, two charging stations are fully operational in Chennai and one in Tiruvannamalai. The remaining seven charging stations will be fully operational shortly.
HMIL’s EV charging stations are strategically located in major cities such as Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. The company has also established a pan-India network by setting up charging stations on major highways, including Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Surat, Bengaluru-Pune, and Pune-Kolhapur.
HMIL charging stations are equipped with advanced chargers offering multiple configurations. As of November, the company has sold over 4,061 EVs that includes Ioniq 5 and Kona models, the company said.
